Shaune Ritchie

With many iconic New Zealand premier races to his credit; The Derby, Two Thousand Guineas, Thorndon Mile, New Zealand Cup, NZ St Ledger, ARC Championship Stakes – to name some of the boys… There is no doubt that Shaune has an exceptional affinity with fillies and mares, which has long been a specialist area as evident through results; New Zealand Oaks (incl. a quinella), Eulogy Stakes, Desert Gold Stakes, Sir Tristram Fillies Classic, Eight Carat Classic, Lowland Stakes and in Australia; the Let’s Elope Stakes – as a few examples.

Colm Murray

Born-and-bred Irishman Colm Murray joined Shaune Ritchie’s Cambridge stable in 2018 and the talented horseman is an integral member of the team. A former jumps jockey in his homeland, Murray made his way to New Zealand where he worked for another Cambridge trainer in Mark Forbes before finding his way to Shaune Ritchie Racing. “Colm is a natural horseman and he has that way about him that I think only the Kiwis and the Irish have with their horses,” Ritchie said.

Shaune is no stranger to campaigning horses offshore. Having tasted true international triumph with the mighty Bonecrusher, Shaune has continued to fruitfully campaign his horses across the Tasman. Shaune’s high level of accomplishment, along with his ability to prepare a horse to go on and compete on the international stage has been instrumental in establishing successful partnerships with prominent Hong Kong owners who have given him the thumbs up.
